Hunter Irrigation Controllers in Detail
X-Core — Simple and Reliable
The X-Core is Hunter’s entry-level mains-powered controller. No WiFi, no app — just straightforward programming via the dial interface. It does the job reliably for years and is a popular choice for basic home gardens where smart features aren’t needed. Available in indoor and outdoor versions.

X2 — The Most Popular Residential Controller
The X2 is Hunter’s most popular residential controller and our best seller. Out of the box it runs as a standard timer, but plug in the optional WiFi WAND module and it connects to the Hydrawise app for full remote control and weather-based watering. This makes it ideal if you want the option of smart watering without committing to it upfront. Available in 4, 6, 8, and 14 station models.

XC Hybrid — Where There’s No Mains Power
The XC Hybrid runs on DC battery power, making it the go-to choice when there’s no mains power available at the controller location — sheds, rural properties, or installations where running cable isn’t practical. Available in 6 & 12 station configurations.

Pro-C — Expandable and Flexible
The Pro-C is a step up from the X-Core for residential and light commercial applications where you need more flexibility. It’s expandable with plug-in station modules, so you can start with a base unit and add zones as your system grows. Simple dial programming, no WiFi. A solid workhorse controller.

Pro-HC — Best for Smart Watering
The Pro-HC has Hydrawise WiFi built in — no WAND module required. It connects directly to your home WiFi and is managed entirely through the Hydrawise app, which adjusts watering schedules automatically based on local weather forecasts. If smart, weather-based watering is your priority, the Pro-HC is the one to get. Available in 6, 12 & 24 station outdoor models.

HCC and HPC — Large Property and Commercial
The HCC and HPC are Hunter’s high-zone-count controllers for large residential properties, commercial sites, sports fields, and council installations. Both run Hydrawise and support up to 30 stations. The HPC adds additional features suited to larger commercial applications. If you’re running more than 12 zones, these are worth considering.

BTT Tap Timer — No In-Ground System Required
If you don’t have an in-ground irrigation system, the BTT screws directly onto any standard garden hose tap. Battery powered, Bluetooth app controlled, no wiring or plumber required. Available in 1 and 2 outlet versions — ideal for veggie patches, pots, and garden beds.

Still Not Sure Which Controller?
Three questions usually settle it:
- Is there mains power at the controller location? No — look at the XC Hybrid, Node BT, or BTT Tap Timer. Yes — everything else is open to you.
- Do you want to control it from your phone? Yes, over WiFi — Pro-HC, HCC, or HPC have it built in, and the X2 gets there with a WAND module. Yes, standing nearby over Bluetooth — Node BT or BTT. No — X-Core or Pro-C.
- How many zones? Under 8 — X-Core or X2. Up to 15 — Pro-C or X2. More than 15 — HCC or HPC.
If your situation doesn’t fit neatly into that, get in touch and we’ll point you at the right model. Happy to help with model selection, compatibility and what’s in stock before you buy.
